What are you taking?

So, we're headed to Peru for a two year mission trip and told that we need to pack everything we'll need in two suitcases.  That's two suitcases for two years.  Well, we have a 4 bedroom house.  So, I've been trying to think about what I really want in these two suitcases.  In fact, every time I go to the store now, I have to filter it thru these two suitcases.  It has really cut down on my spending, which makes me think...Is God up there trying to get our attention?  Hey, you're coming to heaven soon, do you really need all that "stuff"?

  1. Well, I told you before, you don't have to take any books. You can buy a Kindle or Nook or something and do it that way. Or, you can get your friends to send you a book or two while you're away. Also, have them send you Starbucks Via so you can still get your "fix" but without the bulk and the expense. All you need is some good water and creamer.

  2. AND, whenever a friend comes to visit, suggest things for them to bring that you can't take yourself. That's what friends are for. :)

  5. Misha,
I didn't see your comment earlier. We leave for Peru in June, so we still have a few months to deliberate. From what I hear kitchen articles are good to take (quality is quite a bit different). So much for my books! I did get a Kindle for Christmas, as Amanda suggested...I don't know if I can ever get use to it though. I was looking at my books on the bookshelf the other day and know that I'll just miss looking at them, because each one brings back memories when I see them. Oh, brother! Anyway, I loved seeing your Africa pictures and writings- Wonderful!

  6. Kindle you can put your family on your kindle acct and share books with them too!It is a very good idea! Amazon gift cards are a cinch to e-mail to you! I was just thinking that when you said you bought a book, I was thinking, how is she going to get that in her suitcase? ha ha. Also I was thinking that yes, when someone comes and visits bringing you gifts and surprises! Fun for them!Wow, I was thinking along the lines of a great mind... don't i feel spiffy today!
